Lobbying a history lesson

Political wars between Democrats and Republicans aren’t a new thing in this country, in fact it’s been doing on since the start of this country, just with different names. So, let’s take a look at the world of politics and educate some people at the same time. Especially since everyone thinks they know so much about politics when in fact they have no clue whatsoever on the actual inner workings of how politics actually works in reality.

Everyone thinks it’s just a new thing to lobby those in Washington for favors and contracts, but in fact it actually started back when President Grant was in office. President Grant used to hang out in the lobby of the Washington Hotel (located directly across from the White House) where he would sip his bourbon and smoke his cigar every afternoon until dinner time. At this same time the contracts for the reconstruction of the south were being designed and assigned and every day those who wished for favors on those contracts would enter the lobby of the hotel and appeal to President Grant for one of those contracts. It was the elite who sought those precious government contracts to rebuild the south because they knew they could waste the governments money through corruption, kickbacks, inefficiency and waste with each contract they got. Whereby the term “Lobbying” became the new word of the day and has stuck to anyone who goes after favors of elected officials in any office for contracts or special favors. However, there are various different kinds of lobbyists, there are some who actually lobbied for good, while majority of lobbyists are sleezy bastard.  I know because I used to be one of those good Lobbyists in DC for many years and saw plenty of the sleezy bastards take advantage of the glory in this country.
