“Jerusalem Countdown”
There’s a new kid in town - Pure Flix Entertainment, a Christian based Film Company that already has a star-studded family-friendly line-up of movies in its pocket. Pure Flix newest movie is an adaptation of John Hagee’s
“Jerusalem Countdown” due out in April 2012.
Storyline: As the battle over Jerusalem escalates and conflict between Islam and Israel heats up, unknown terrorists smuggle suitcase nukes into the United States. The threat to America and global security is on the horizon. Time is of the essence for Shane Daughtry, (David A.K. White) along with fellow FBI Agent Eve Rearden, (Anna Zielinski) as try to find the terrorists before its too late. Audiences will be surprised to learn, who the man behind the plot is in the end. (Sorry, I’m not giving it away)
While the movie shows scenarios depicted from the original book, pointing out terrorist activities, New World Order take over, Israeli Peace Talks, government conflicts, and the threat of nuclear weapons; it also includes an end-time event that is pure Hollywood. There is an equally important spiritual message - renewal of faith to those who believe. Another message shows the relevance of social and political dynamics between faiths in comparison to current world events. As the movie unfolds you’ll recognize a few familiar faces such as Lee Majors, Randy Travis and Stacy Keach. You’ll also see a few other faces you might not recognize, but you’ll want to keep an eye out for in the future; extremely talented actors – Marco Khan, Matthew Tailford and Carey Scott.
Kahn and Tailford always do an outstanding job as terrorists/assassins, but my pick for the best actor in this movie, goes to Carey Scott. Scott’s emotional fear and raw talent shone through as he portrayed a fledging writer who listens to his gut and almost gets killed. His performance was intense.
Although this movie explains the biblical implications of what could happen, should there be a nuke attack, the ending left me disappointed. There was no final explanation, and it left this viewer longing for five more minutes of film.
Overall, the movie was both entertaining and educational. I can definitely predict the reviews will mirror those given to the movie “The Passion of The Christ."
